Puff Pastry Pizza Appetizer–Guest Post

Hello ladies & gents. I’m Ali, and I make up 1/2 of the blogging duo over at the [unrefined] sweet life. I share the blog with my handsome husband, James, and we blog about everything under the sun: our life in boston, adventures, diy projects, cocktails, recipes, etc.

I am so excited that Cat agreed to let us take over her slice of the internet for the day. I have been dying to share this simple and amazing pizza appetizer, and what better way to do it than in our introductory post on The Rustic Willow.

puff pastry pizzaThis was originally dreamed up on New Years Eve. We had decided to hang low at home, since James was feeling a little under the weather. But, we decided that we wanted to make the night special so we planned a few appetizers to munch on together. One was a flat bread, but when at the grocery store, we couldn’t find pizza dough (weird)! So what are two crazy kids to do? Buy puff pastry!

So for your enjoyment, we are sharing our New Years Eve Puff Pastry Pizza. This recipe is quick to throw together, requires very little prep work, and most importantly does not leave you in the kitchen cleaning piles of dishes. These typical pizza toppings get a chic new look at life on top of this butter pastry crust. It will definitely be a crowd pleaser for those last minute get togethers with your friends, movie nights with family, or just a spur of the moment date night with your love.

enjoy! xx

What is a frozen “puff” pastery? Is it in the baking/cooking aisle? I’ve never heard of it.

I used to make my own pizza crust from scratch but for some reason they stopped making (or I can’t find it anymore) the yeast I buy for pizza. I was planning on making a homemade pizza for my husband and I this weekend – already bought the mozza + pepperoni!

      Hi Nancy!
“Puff” pastry is typically used in baking when making light and flakey pastries — apple turnovers, tarts, etc.
Many people enjoy making their owndough, however it is a labor of love. Luckily someone decided to package it up and freeze it. So. there should be frozen puff pastry dough in your local grocery store in the frozen dessert section — typically near the frozen pie crusts. 🙂 I hope that helps. x Ali

This looks so tasty. Perfect for snacking in front of a good film on a Saturday night. Love finger food more than big meals – have you tried doing this with goats cheese and caramelised onion? Genius!

    LOvely guest post!
